Yeah, yeah. What he had told the younger teen was easier said than done. He knew how to control himself after the several times he never took the voice in his head's advice on situations. Still didn't work all the time either. Morals and all that jazz still ruled his actions than thinking things out.
The Friends of Humanity members didn't seem to have noticed them. It would only be a matter of time until they did. Then would they cause a scene within this diner? Delano hoped not as he didn't want to be banned from any restaurant he loved to eat at. He would have to give them a smack down if that's the case!
The feral mutant waved the waitress over to their table. “Can we get our food to go?†he asked while digging out his wallet and pulling out the amount he figured he owed. If it was extra then the waitress can consider it a nice tip. “Of course,†replied the waitress. Let me just go get it boxed when both your orders are up.â€
Delano downed his orange juice and waited for her to hurry up. Oh great! He saw the woman turn in their direction from the reflection of the window. Brianna nudged Daniel and whispered, “I think those are the guys, Daniel.â€
It was time to dine and dash, but pay for the meal instead of skipping out on it. No need to get his room mate mad at him even if he would understand.

'Oh hurry up...hurry up...hurry up...hurry up already!'
The mental mantra played through Lance's head as he wished for the waitress to hurry up so that they could get out of here. The stress and anxiety of this entire situation (plus the general lack of decent food the last couple of days) was enough to almost make the pyrokinetic mutant sick (his face was a little green and he was tensed up...but thankfully he didn't get sick thank you very much) as he simply sat there, back to the two harassers and looking down at the table with enough intensity to burn a hole through it if he wanted to. Boy Delano wasn't the only one who was wishing for a menu to hide behind right about now.
Contrary to popular belief, Lance didn't really enjoy great shows of force and strength with his powers. Fire was dangerous...he knew that. And he knew it wasn't something to play with. Now bluffs on the other hand? Well...he was all for showing someone a taste of his powers if it meant he could scare them off. Even if it was just for a moment.
Good god was he hoping this waitress would hurry the heck up.
Lance's mouth dried a little as he heard the female whispering and heard the footfalls that meant that people were approaching them. 'Keep cool...keep calm...' Lance told himself. As hotheaded and eager as he was to show them his stuff a few moments ago...he was just as eager about not burning the joint to the ground. That wouldn't go over well...and he certainly didn't want to hurt someone in the crossfire. Someone who just happened to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. He never would have let himself live that one down!
He suddenly felt a strong hand on his shoulder and what little color was in Lance's face promptly left his expression as he visibly stiffened up...
"Hey there hotshot...long time no see." Lance heard the falsely friendly tone with just a hint of sadistic intent underneath the front and he knew he was in trouble...
he knew that voice. It was the male...the two who had been utterly harassing him had found him yet again. Long time no see? Pfft! Yeah right. Smart alec.
Oh man...that waitress really needed to hurry up now...

Well this is just lovely! The waitress was taking forever and there is no menu to hide behind. Delano really wanted to pull off the scene in The Emperor's New Groove now. Maybe that small of hope would of held up but the prop needed was not around. His inner wolf was wanted to take them down in a fight. Bloody, or not.
He kept his gaze averted when the man approached them. Scanning the table top for anything to use. Luckily there is a napkin holder and a salt and pepper shakers on either side. Would be enough to knock the guy down but would mean they couldn't come back to this diner in months. Maybe even in a few years with the trouble on the verge of being caused.
Oh screw it! No more thinking on what to do as he could sense that Lance wouldn't be able to hold out much longer. The man didn't seem to be wanting to keep the peace either. Quickly grabbing the metal napkin holder, Delano whipped it as hard as he could at the man standing right beside Lance. “Run!†he said to Lance as he grabbed the pepper shaker and threw it at the woman, hoping it would break in her face.
He bolted out of the door and silently promised to send them money to pay for the uneaten meals and the mess he made.

Run...
Fabulous idea! Let's!
Lance could hear the curses as the napkins and pepper Delano threw went flying towards the two. The pepper broke into the woman's face...and got all over Lance too causing him to gag a little. Man this was a freaking mess! Lance was never gonna be able to step into this place again! He felt a twinge of guilt hitting his gut as he knew that it was half way his fault that this was going on to begin with. If only he had declined the other's offer for food. But he hadn't. And now he brought his issues in with him. God he hated being a mutant some days!
But that was the least of his worries. He tried getting up to run, but the man's grip on his shoulder was tight. He had no intention of letting the fire mutant go. None whatsoever. Though after a moment's struggle and a sharp elbow to the gut, the man let out a loud curse as he stumbled backwards...allowing Lance the chase to make a hasty retreat. And retreat he did. He ran out of the diner, catching up with the other. Now what were they gonna do? Where were they gonna run? Lance was panicking and he had to take a moment. And so he darted into the near alleyway--whether the other followed him or not was his choice...apparently he did.
And just in time, he could hear the other two approaching and he could hear their swears and grumbles, "Those two punks are gonna get it and get it good." Lance bit his lip as he visibly shuddered as he plastered himself against the alley wall. That guy meant business. He could hear the threat in the other's tone. If he found those two, then they were in trouble.
"Okay...." a pause as Lance panted to catch his breath...or tried to at least, "Whadda we do now?" he asked in a voice just barely above a whisper, an inkling of fear seeping into his tone. He was pale and shaking a little (okay so a lot) too--but he couldn't help it. He hated this. He absolutely hated confrontations like this!
All he could picture was that night when his parents got gunned down protecting them. The sound of gun fire, the smell of blood, the threats--having to run...it was all swirling about his mind like a tornado. And as tough, sarcastic and cold as he usually was--when pitted against his own past and his memories, he was about as tough as a five year old. Which was to say not very much so. He was stuck now...
Totally stuck. And what did he have to depend on? A stranger. A complete and total stranger.
Yeah that didn't make him feel any better.

Out of the diner, Delano had slowed his pace a little to see if Lance has been caught or is on his way. Kind of didn't mean to leave the guy behind but it was the heat of the moment. A breath of relief escaped his mouth upon seeing Lance join up with him. Full force of panic hit him like a brick wall as he ran along side the other. Great to see the teen had his priorities straight when it comes to mutant haters.
He almost kept running straight until he noticed Lance had turned down an alley. Doing a quick stop, he turned to follow. Panting lightly at the excessive burst of speed. Hands on his knees, he glanced at the opening while hearing the two mutant haters coming closer and looked back at Lance. The question made him think of the only thing to do in this situation.
“Stay here. I'll get them to go away. You can either wait for me or run when you see an opening,†said Delano as he started walking towards the entrance they came in at. With a bit of concentration, Delano transformed into his white wolf form (his clothes morphing with). Letting out a loud growl, the wolf darted out of the alley at the two mutant haters.
Mostly trying to scare them to run away which they appeared to be startled. Hackles raised, teeth bared, head low and tail straight back. Ready to leap at either one if they took a step towards him.

Lance may have been brash at times and maybe even a bit stupid...but he was no idiot okay. He wasn't about to stand and fight against those two. Not when the entire diner was in danger--as to say the building itself. Not to mention and and all of their patrons. And their workers. And not to mention himself too. Yeah--just no. No, no, no. He wasn't doing it. As much as he wanted to show them he wasn't no one to be pushed around....he also knew that wasn't the way to do it. And so that was why he ran. Among other reasons. But that was the main one.
Now they were in an alleyway. Yes they. He and some guy he had just met--a strange by all meanings--but one that seemed bound and determined to help him. Come hell or high water. Lance wasn't sure if he liked this. The guy could get himself killed in the crossfire if he wasn't careful. He was a mutant. They were mutant haters. Probably members of that "Friends of Humanity" group. (-Insert many mutters and grumbles of profanity here-). They were only two yes--but dangerous. Lance knew that first hand. They could have weapons hiding on them anywhere. And the last thing they needed was to get shot. Either one of them.
But of course--there was always the unexpected wrench in the works. Always! And this time in came in the form of the other shifting into a large wolf and darting out into plain view!
Lance facepalmed. 'Have ya lost yur mind?!" he yelled out at the other. His accent thicker in his indignation and slight anger. Was he trying to get himself killed here?! Cause he was doing a good job at it! Lance could not believe this! All this time of trying to stay safe. Of playing it smart. Of being level headed. And now this happens! Great! Just great!
And even more great! (Sarcasm noted). The two harassing mutant haters had been right behind them. They saw the wolf. Put two and two together and Lance let out a curse as he saw the gun being drawn. No! He knew that would happen! Knew it! Why couldn't they have both just kept on running? Why?
'Another one of those mutants.' Daniel muttered under his breath as his grip on the pistol tightened.
'Get him Daniel. Shoot him.' Brianna urged her friend on. She wanted the mutant dead. She didn't want to give them any chances to get away. Any more chances that was.
Lance's eyes widened. Now he had to do something. The other was gonna get killed if he didn't. Not to saw the other couldn't defend himself (big wold--sharp teeth, lots of claws) he wasn't defenseless by far. But Lance got him into this mess and now he had to get him out of this. Otherwise he never would have let it go. Let himself live it down.
Thick white smoke began to flood from the alley....Lance's eyes were iridescent as the smoke poured from his body. It centered itself around the two Humanity members....but unfortunately it still would have effected the other. Hopefully he would still be able to get away. Hopefully this was going to work.
It had to.
