Characters Appearing: Norman Osborn Time of Day: Afternoon Location(s): Oscorp in New York City Previous Thread Name/Info: N/A NPCs Used: Other business men and possible guards Plot Summary: Xanatos hears about Oscorp and plans to make a deal with Norman Osborn.
David Xanatos had done his research on Oscorp before making his move. It seemed to have spawned over night since he knew everything about New York City. A lot of things seem to have happened over night and he was unsure of the cause. The gargoyles didn't even know what had happened when he talked to them. They figured it was magic but he felt there was more to it than a complicated spell.
As the driver stopped in front of Oscorp, David stepped out of the limo and headed inside. Upon being greeted by the receptionist, he said, “I'm here to see Norman Osborn.” An aura about him meant he wouldn't take no for an answer. Even if he had to bribe the man in charge of who enters and leaves the building.
“Sorry, sir. He's in a meeting right now,” replied the man from behind the desk. “If you come back -”
“Well better tell him David Xanatos is on his way with an important offer,” he stated while figuring that the meeting room would not be hard to find within this small building. Small for him but probably large for Norman. It did not take him long to start making his way down corridors and peering in doors to make sure he was going the right way.
Security proved to be a challenge to get by but as soon as he threatened to sue them for all their worth made them back off. Even if he had to explain a bit of who he was to them. Someone with more power than the head of this company had. Coming upon the meeting room, David opened the door and stepped in causing the other people in the room to stop what they are doing and stare at him.
Quite the reaction he assumed would happen for a random man in a crisp business suit to barge in on a meeting he is not invited to. “Mr. Osborn, let me introduce myself. I'm David Xanatos of Xanatos Enterprises,” he said with a smile.

Norman listened as his general business manager went over statistics and figures, trying to look like he was paying attention. It was the Oscorp monthly business meeting, and all of his division managers were here, to give their reports and discuss future issues. Normally they would have his full attention; it was an important meeting and he’d spent the last few days preparing for it, but his body was tired and his mind was wandering. He was fully aware of what was wrong; ever since the Green Goblin had awakened, he had been out almost every other night, cruising the city until the wee hours of the morning, seeing what trouble he could get into. It was leaving Norman with very little sleep, and it was beginning to take his toll on him, although he still managed to show little sign that there was anything wrong.
The manager was just finishing up his report when the door to the conference room opened and a complete stranger barged in. Now this caused Norman to mentally sit up and take notice when the monthly statistics had not. The man certainly had a lot of nerve, to come waltzing in and interrupt a private meeting like this. Who the hell did he think he was, anyway?
Well, Norman found out a moment later. David Xanatos. He’d heard of the man, and what he’d heard left him as not being surprised that he’d break in on other people’s meetings. The man was a ruthless bastard, which made Norman wonder just what he wanted with Oscorp, and why he’d felt it necessary to make an entrance like this.
”Mr. Xanatos.” Norman said coldly in the way of a greeting, not bothering to stand up. ”I’m sure it’s a pleasure to meet you, but we are in the middle of our monthly meeting. If you speak to my receptionist he will be glad to arrange a date for us to meet and discuss whatever it is that you need, but for now I am afraid I will have to ask you to leave.”

Things weren't going well but they never did in the beginning. It was nice to hear that Norman has heard of him rather than not know a thing about him. Surely meeting is better than hearing since this business man clearly had no idea what David Xanatos is capable of. His eyes watched as the other man seemed highly displeased with what is going on.
This guy looked like the last manager he had fired for being boring with relating reports. Except he clearly was not him. David never forgot a face. So he kept Owen in charge of gathering reports on everything related to his company and what he owns. “More like you were about to be put to sleep just before your meeting got over with,†stated David.
He motioned towards the man. “I fired someone as boring looking as him last month. So maybe you should find someone who will give reports a little pizzazz?†A nicely suggestion that probably won't be looked upon. The manager seemed to have gave him a dirty look, which David just ignored. “And if you looked me up, then I'm sure you know I don't do later arrangements. Either you hear me out now or rack your brain to figure out why I was here. Your choice, Norman.â€
The bait is set and now all he needed was to see if Norman Osborn would take it. Clearly he can find other companies just like this one to propose his deal upon. Besides if Norman really wanted him gone he would call his guards, which he suspect would listen this time to remove him from the building. Funny how things work like that.

It was a testament to the caffeine provided by the high-grade coffee that Norman was drinking that he maintained his faculties enough to manage to not laugh or even crack a smile when Xanatos insulted his business manager. Despite the complete audacity of him barging into Norman’s meeting, the man was right. Jansen knew his stuff; was a whiz at numbers and had a great head for business, which is why Norman paid him the salary that he did to keep him from going elsewhere, but the man regrettably had all the personality of tree lichen, and it managed to show once a month at these meetings.
”My employees are hired for their talent and their business acumen, not their…showmanship.” Norman said disdainfully. His first impulse was to send for security. Part of him didn’t care who the man was; no one acted like this on Norman Osborn’s home turf and got away with it. He also didn’t want it known that he was willing to give in to someone like Xanatos. On the other hand, part of him was very curious as to what exactly David Xanatos wanted; what could be so important that he’d pull something like this. Norman didn’t want to lose face in front of his employees, but at the same time if there was a potentially lucrative business deal to be had, he’d be a fool not to hear the man out.
”Alright, we’re going to break for lunch, ladies and gentleman.” Norman said, straightening in his chair. ”Everyone back here in an hour.”
He waited while his division managers gathered their things and made their way out of the room. When it was finally just the two of them, Norman spoke. ”Alright Xanatos, you’ve got my attention. Now what’s so damn important that you felt the need to pull a stunt like this?”

Hook. Line. And almost sinker. Always works every time in his book. Who would not be curious to see what he has to offer? Besides things always worked out for David Xanatos in the end. “Is showmanship really that frowned upon?†he asked while everyone gathered their belongings to break for lunch. A half an hour was all he would need but he'll take the hour Norman had given for the lunch break.
Even if his question had irked Norman's businessmen and women, they didn't show it. Good. It meant they had control over their emotions, but how would it end when they came back and talked to Norman after he left? Reaching into his inner pocket on his jacket, David pulled out folded papers and set them down in front of the other business man.
“I've had these papers written up for you to look over. An idea of what we can do for each other if you join Xanatos Enterprises. Obviously more can be done over time. A downside you may dislike is if I want something done then you need to put your experiments aside. An upside is you'll get funding from me for your own personal projects and I won't require you to explain yourself,†said David as he sat down in a chair.
He would let things sink in with Norman before continuing on.

Join Xanatos Enterprises…
Norman glanced at the papers that Xanatos handed him, not really reading them though. He didn’t need to. The man wanted to absorb Oscorp, take over Norman’s business. It sounded all nice and everything, that bit about funding for Norman’s own projects, but when it came right down to it, it would be a takeover. Everyone would keep their positions, Norman would still be the head of Oscorp, but David Xanatos would be the one pulling the strings.
The man may be richer than Croesus, but if he thought he could just waltz right in and take over Norman Osborn’s company, he was insane.
He wanted to tell this guy where to go and what to do to himself when he got there. The darkness in the back of Norman’s mind, the little part of the Green Goblin that never completely went away anymore, that part of him wanted to take those papers, make the man wipe himself with them and then eat them. And then kill him afterwards. Dark little fantasies like this were becoming more and more common ever since the Goblin had re-emerged, and Norman found himself unable to stop them. Sometimes he didn’t want to try, and found himself enjoying the products of the Goblin’s sick imagination, despite the protests of his more rational self.
No matter how tempting it was though, he wasn’t about to let his dark side take over in the board room. This was his domain, Norman Osborn’s, not the Green Goblin’s. Norman let the papers drop onto the table and leaned back into his chair.
”Sounds very nice, Xanatos; I’m sure it’s a very reasonable offer.”Norman said calmly. ”But why would I want to join Xanatos Enterprises? Oscorp is doing very well on its own.”
