MARIE"ROGUE"D'ANCANTO
Name: Marie D'Ancanto Nicknames: Rogue Age: Sixteen Birthday: July 24th Species: Mutant Canon or Original: Canon Fandom: X-Men
Play By: Anna Paquin Height: 5'2†Weight: 120 Eye color: Brown Hair color: Brown, with two white streaks Body type: Short, petite
Likes: Living at Xavier's school Being among other mutants Doing her part to fulfill Xavier's dream of humans and mutants coexisting Reading Being a hero Dislikes: Her power Having to cover nearly every inch of her skin to protect others. The Brotherhood Feeling lonely Humans that would try and hurt her and other mutants Habits: Maintains distance when her skin isn't covered Fears: Never learning to control her power Never being with anyone physically Strengths: Good judge of character Brave Weaknesses: Naive Bases some decisions based on what she's feeling at that moment, rather than thinking it through. Powers: Rogue temporarily gains physical abilities, personality traits, and even powers of whomever she touches skin on skin. Unfortunately, this power leaves that person extremely weak, even comatose, depending on how long the physical contact lasts. She also gains the memories of that person, which is something that stays with her indefinitely. Personality: Marie was an only child, growing up in a small town with her parents. She was very sheltered, and only had a small group of close friends. Shy and naive, she wore her heart on her sleeve. She has a knack for knowing when someone is a good person, however deeply they try to hide that fact.
She desperately wants to be in a place where she feels as if she can belong. She knew the home she grew up in was no longer a place for her. Her parents had always supported Senator Kelly and his mutant registration act, and when her powers had been revealed, they treated her with fear and hostility. It was never physical, although this was less likely due to a part of them believed she was still their daughter, and more likely that they knew she'd hurt them more if they did.
She felt safe for the first time in months when she came to Xavier's school. There was no one there who hated her for something she had no control over, no one who feared her. So when she was tricked by Mystique into thinking that everyone did fear her, the sense of belonging was ripped away once more, though when she realized how hard Logan and the others fought to rescue her from Magneto, she realized that she did in fact, belong with them.
As an X-Man, she matured quickly, party because she had to, and partly because she was in a much healthier environment than the one she was raised in. Her parents were never abusive, but they were overprotective, and it wasn't until coming to Xavier's school that Rogue finally began to experience a little bit of life. She is a capable hero, and one that is willing to do anything for the people at Xavier's institute, as she considers them all to be her family.
Mother: Priscilla D'Ancanto Father: Owen D'Ancanto Siblings: None Other Family: No blood relatives of importance, though she considers the mutants she lives with family. Friends: Logan, Bobby Drake, Professor Xavier, Jean Gray, other members of the X-Men Enemies: Magneto and the Brotherhood of Mutants Home town: Meridian, Mississippi Current residence: Westchester, New York (Xavier Institute for Higher Learning) History: Marie D'Ancanto lived a very quiet, simple life with her mother and father in Meridian, Mississippi. She was sixteen when her mutant powers manifested. It was sudden, and resulted in her putting her boyfriend in a coma for three weeks just from a kiss. Terrified of hurting someone else, and unable to deal with the fear from her friends, and her own parents, Rogue, as she now called herself, took what little money she had and ran away from home, ending up in Laughlin City.
She walked into a bar, but at this point did not have a penny to her name. Her attention was drawn to a man who sat a few stools next to her. Known as Wolverine, he'd just won a cage fight, but didn't have so much as a black eye. This fact was also noticed by the man he beat in the fight, who seemed intent on picking another fight. When a knife is pulled, Rogue shouts out a warning, faster than anyone realized it, Wolverine was on his feet, claws extended from his fists, pointed at the man's throat. Rogue stared in shock, even as the bartender pulled a rifle out, aiming it at the back of Wolverine's head. In one fluid motion, the same claws extended out of his other fist, slicing through the rifle as if it were made of butter. After a brief and tense stand off, Wolverine retracted his claws and stalked out of the bar. Not sure if she was making the right call, Rogue hurried after him, managing to stow away in his trailer. Unfortunately, it wasn't long before he found her, and they were no where near a town.
At first, Wolverine was perfectly content to just leave her on the side of the road, but only drove a few yards away before stopping and letting her ride with him. The pair spoke briefly, Rogue admitting her mutation to him, and both gently ribbing the other about their chosen names before giving their real names. Wolverine's name it turned out, was Logan.
The ride was cut short when the car suddenly crashed into a fallen tree that neither had noticed. Wolverine went flying through the windshield landing in the middle of the road. Rogue was once again stunned to see him stand up, the gash in his head healing before her eyes. Before he could come back, they were suddenly attacked by another pair of mutants. Logan was knocked unconscious by the mutant Sabertooth, but they were quickly rescued by some more mutants, Cyclops and Storm, who brought Rogue and the unconscious Wolverine to Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning. For the first time in a year, Rogue was among her own. She was enrolled in a few classes, and even made a few friends.
Only a few days later, however, it all came apart once more. Lying awake in bed one night, she became aware of Logan having a nightmare in the other room. She approached his bed, unable to touch him due to the fact her hands were bare. Her brown eyes stared through the darkness, concern building as his nightmare seemed to get worse. Suddenly with a roar, he woke up, bolting up in bed as his claws shot out, stabbing her clean through her chest. Guilt and horror wracked his expression as he quickly retracted his claws and called out for help.
Rogue knew she didn't have much time and was left with only one option. She gently touched his cheek with her bare hand, taking his healing ability for her own. The puncture wounds healed, but Logan was left gasping in pain just as Cyclops, Storm, and Jean Grey rushed in. It was clear that Logan was going to make a full recovery, but another student told Rogue that everyone was now afraid of her, and that Xavier was furious that she'd used her powers on another mutant. Rogue ran away again, but it wasn't long before Logan found her on a train.
Her despair at hurting Logan and feeling as though she'd never be able to be close to anyone was driving her to leave, and it seemed as though this was something Logan understood. He had just convinced her to go back to the institute with him when Magneto appeared, using his powers over metal to immobilize Logan, and shoot Rogue with a tranquilizer dart. He kidnapped her and brought her to the Statue of Liberty, where he revealed that he would transfer his power to her and hook her up to a machine, using her to force the X-gene onto the nearby UN Summit. It was his plan to turn the majority of world leaders into mutants so that they might be treated more fairly. This endeavor, he admitted, would cost Rogue her life.
Logan and the X-Men came to save her, but the machine was already activated, and a bright light was making it's way to the crowd of people. Jean and Storm worked together to levitate Logan up to the machine, who destroyed it with his claws before Magneto's evil plan could be carried out. Rogue was already unconscious and near death, and Logan clung to her desperately, hoping that her power would still work. It did, though this time Logan was even weaker than before. Rogue hardly left his side while his body slowly healed itself. Her affection for him was strong, stronger than that of a childish crush, though Logan's heart was set on Jean. It seemed hopeless to her that he'd ever return her feelings, though she was content to have the strong bond with him. When he left the institute to try and figure out his past, he left his dog tags with her, promising that he'd come back for them.
Name: Elisa Age: 27 Contact: PM Other characters: Kimberly and Sarah Role play sample: She knew her parents were downstairs. She knew that her door was open. Yet there was still something very thrilling to her about having a boy in her bedroom. David was cute, sweet, and he liked her. It was something she'd never experienced, and she was loving every moment.
They were lying on her bed, facing each other. Marie had just told him of her plans to travel to Anchorage, something that she had yet to even tell her parents. Suddenly, David moved closer to her, and even in her innocent mind she knew what was about to happen. She hardly breathed as he moved closer to her, pressing his lips softly against hers. Marie's heart fluttered in her chest as she responded shyly. She'd always dreamed of her first kiss, but she never thought it would be so perfect.
Suddenly, David stiffened, and Marie pulled back, fear now gripping her as she stared at David who was lying limp on the bed, his eyes staring sightlessly at the ceiling, his mouth open. Marie started screaming.
Rogue sat up in bed, gasping as the dream faded. She was at the school, in her bed, the same place she'd been for the past six months. Shaking a little, she sighed as she climbed out of bed, knowing sleep was not going to return to her anytime soon. The nightmares came every so often. Sometimes they were nightmares of David's, ranging from his memories of the kiss that put him in a coma for three weeks, to Eric's nightmares of the extermination camp in Auschwitz, where he'd last seen his parents. And then there were Logan's nightmares, dark, violent, and without any coherent subject matter at all, except for pain and agony.
Rogue walked into the kitchen and switched on the light before she walked to the refridgerator and took out a bottle of water. She sat down at the table, resting her bare arms on the wood. It wasn't often that she was able to be like this, dressed in something... normal, rather than layers upon layers of clothing. It was nice, and it was why night was becoming her favorite time.
Still, she found herself wishing for company. She wondered if there'd ever be a time where she'd learn to control her power, to touch someone's skin with her own, and not worry about hurting them. What she wouldn't give...
Rogue sniffed, wiping a tear from her eyes. It wouldn't matter if she could be in a room filled with people, as long as she had this ability that she couldn't control, she'd still be alone...
