Personality:
Thackery can be described as a rather blunt individual. He doesn't have a lot of patience, and usually hopes a person will understand his intentions and his directions the first time he says them. In this way, he can get very exasperated. However, despite this flaw in his personality, Thackery is a very loyal, helpful, and kind guy. He wants what's right, and best for everyone. He hates evil things, and over his many years, he's learned a lot about the world and how wicked it is. He detests the evilness, and in that regard, he has a strong sense of right and wrong. Binx has a nice heart alright, and he is awfully nice to others who are nice back to him- he also makes bonds quickly and you can bet this guy will protect you to the end. He doesn't like seeing good people suffering or in pain- or make bad mistakes- like he had once. He still regrets that day all those years ago when he couldn't save his sister in time... Binx has a deep hate for the hags, the witches who cursed him, and took Emily away from him. He was deeply protective of his sister, and loved her so much.
In many ways Thackery is a guide to those who need help. Sure not everyone is used to a talking cat- but normally people get used to the fact, and he tries to help them with whatever problem they might be having. He can only do so much without interfering too much- he doesn't really want to flaunt the fact he can talk to everyone in town. He's secretive in this way, and doesn't get out in the open very much, and prefers to do activities at night, in the woods, or whatever is available to him. There's really not that much to do with his time other than hunt, and the only time he actually needs to do something useful is on Halloween night.
Binx has a witty sense at times, and can be quite funny and cheeky when he wants to be- but in a kind way, he's rarely ever mean to people who don't deserve it. Binx is also very street-smart, and usually observes before making any rash choices, he's learned quite a lot in his years, and has become very wise- yet with that comes his impatient nature with mortals, and he very much wishes there was an easier way to get them to listen and not make silly, wrong choices. In a lot of ways, Binx is a loner, and doesn't like to intrude upon others unless necessary, but if you offer it to him, he'll more than happily stick around and be your companion- afterall, he has all the time in the world...

-Sanderson sisters (the curse)
Thackery wasn't always a cat. Back in 1693, he was an average teenage boy, a farmer's son, in Salem Massachusetts. He has a dear younger sister named Emily. One day Emily was lured off by the three sisters, the Sanderson sisters, known for their wicked magic and spells. Thackery had to save her, so he ran after her, arriving at the house of the evil witches, and watched in horror as they made Emily drink their dreadful potion of poison. It was to make the three sisters young and beautiful (hardly) forever, so they could never die.
In an attempt to save his beloved sister, Thackery was over-powered by the sisters, and they put a horrible curse on him (see above), that turned him into a black cat. He could never die, no matter how many times he got gutted or thrown off a cliff- he never died. His sister was gone- already sucked up by the sisters- however, they were soon discovered by the towns people, and hanged for their wickedness. They cast another spell before they died however, one that made it so when a virgin lit a candle (the dark candle in the home of the witches) on Hallow's night, they would return.
From that point onward, Thackery knew he had to make sure no virgin ever lit that candle. And with that fact, and then the fact he was turned into a furry cat and could never die, Thackery lived his life- his parents never to know of their son's whereabouts again, and his normal life as a mortal forever gone. He lived off the land, wandering around, hunting mice just for the heck of it, protecting the house from any virgins on Halloween Night, and seeing time fly by. He's been living on the earth for over 300 years, and protects the candle still. He regrets not saving his sister, and deeply mourns over the fact he cannot die, and that's the most painful thing of all- knowing he won't die and see his family, constantly reminded of his failure, and watching the wickedness of this world roll on by. Even to this day, Thackery still carries his old-English British accent, but rarely talks to anyone, for who would want to talk to a talking cat? It would make his life even more complicated when the humans started knowing about his secret. Besides, he normally just stays out of sight, and only comes out at night to prowl around.

Role play sample:
The night was crisp with cold, and all that could be heard was the rustle of the trees and leaves as he worked his way across the forest floor. Thackery Binx spent many lonely nights wandering this same forest. The loneliness didn't bother him as much as it used to though, not like in the beginning. There was much more darkened woods and strange noises in the wind back in the 1600s. Owls hooting, the wolves, bears, and various other nocturnal creatures of the night roaming about. Now all he really had were occasional squirrels, maybe a fox or two, and the roar of the cars to shake his nerves.
Whatever nerves he had left that is. Not many things bothered the immortal being, for he could not be terribly frightened of anything, because their wasn't anything worse than what he was enduring now. Endless life was nothing to be happy about. He hated it. That was how it had to be though; his life now was just an endless road, never ending, never stopping.
Just then, Thackery heard a sound from father down; it sounded like voices. Campers perhaps, though he didn't quite know why mortals 'camped' when it was so cold outside. Back in his time, being out so late was dangerous, and quite foolish- and it still is today in fact! Binx gets confounded by the way humans today did things, and couldn't wrap his mind around their ways. Why stay outside on a cold night when they could keep indoors where it is nice and toasty?
mortals will be mortals I guess The tom thought with an inward sigh as he diverted his course to avoid the humans, wondering aimlessly where he could find some mice to carelessly hunt.
