Characters Appearing: Rory & Doctor Time of Day: morning Location(s): Africa Village Previous Thread Name/Info: N/A NPCs Used: African's Plot Summary: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So this wasn't the first time Rory had found himself in a strange world and he doubted that it would be the last, the Doctor had a way of affecting people even if they weren't with them. His own daughter was a prime example for that with all the spoiler's and the coded way of talking, sure it annoyed him sometimes but mostly it just left him clueless. Amy usually pointed out that fact yet even she wasn't there which scared him, when the pair were apart bad thing's seemed to happen to one or the other. The Roman funnily enough knew where he was though as he could tell from video broadcast's that he had seen, Africa. Now he just needed to know what time without the TARDIS translating language's for him to ask with.
He walked slowly past a series of home made hut's feeling the rough landscape crunch before it crumbled beneath his feet. The male had his arm's folded as he made his way through wondering whether it was best to ask for help or to just try and find his own way. For the first time in a long while he wished that the Doctor was around to help them he had saved them so many times making it easy to just take him for granted but he didn't know a better guy and that was the truth. "Doctor" he muttered looking all around himself like the time lord would just suddenly appear from nowhere,
That of course wasn't the case and instead he suddenly found himself surrounded by a tribe like group of African's all with spear's raised towards's him. He instantly pulled his hand's up in front of him to defend himself as adrenaline pumped through his bloodstream making his heart beat quickly. "Wait. No. I um, don't mean you any harm" he exclaimed mentally hitting himself afterward's. Of course he didn't mean them any harm he wasn't the one with a spear pointed against their chest's. The male frowned muttering to himself like he did when he got nervous knowing that soon enough he would probably be dying yet again oh someone had it out for him.
"I didn't mean to do anything wrong" he told them with a small smile although the tribe just looked at each other whispering in some strange language that he didn't understand. Where was the TARDIS translation when he needed it? For all he knew they could be planning their next meal, him. Rory frantically searched for a way out twisting his body to find the smallest gap that he could run through either that or a sword that he could use to fight his way out. He wasn't beyond fighting back not since becoming from a Roman past.
His moment came when two male's began to argue and he pushed against each other allowing Rory to charge through the gap back onto the rough desert landscape away from the village like hut's. His legs were moving as fast as he could make them trying to move his figure further forward yet the land below him was too hard to gain a lot of speed and he could feel himself slowing down. "Amy" he coughed wishing that he could see her before they caught with him, they were used to this terrain and he wasn't.

All of the universes ever in existence were still being brought together. All of space was being condensed into one tiny spot. You could be in London and start traveling south, only to find yourself in Beijing a few kilometers away. Whoever--or whatever--was doing this was liable to make some mistakes along the way. The Washington D.C. area, which the Doctor had already been to, seemed relatively unchanged. The clueless ones were the lucky ones. They had no reason to panic...not that the Doctor was panicking because he knew that, even without the help of Amy and Rory, he was going to find a way to stop this super-universe from being created.
But he really wasn't all by himself; he had the TARDIS to help him out. Sexy could be relied on to take him where he needed to go when he needed to go there. He had already found himself at a loss once before, and the TARDIS had taken him to London to save River from the Master. He could only hope that she would continue to know what to do because without her help...Well, the Doctor didn't want to think about what would happen if it ever came to that eventuality.
And the Doctor found himself in the TARDIS right now, still in London. It had briefly crossed his mind that he should go and pay a visit to the Ponds--to see if they were doing all right. But social calls really weren't his thing. Besides, if he just popped by, they'd probably know that something bad was going on and insist that they help him fix it. He couldn't risk that one happening. He had dropped them off to save them, not to have them wanting to come help at his every beck and call.
Dismissing that notion quickly, the Doctor said, "Okay, Sexy, onwards and upwards." He ran around the console, pressing this and that button, and the TARDIS began to dematerialize. Where she would land, he had no idea, but that was half of the fun of it. And when she did start to re-materialize, the Doctor didn't look at the scanner to pinpoint his location. It was always so much more fun when it was a surprise.
He ran towards the doors and pulled them open to a scene of nothing but sand as far as the eye could see. Why would he be needed in a desert? The answer was soon apparent as he spotted a lone figure running across it. As the figure came closer and closer, he finally did recognize who it was. Why didn't it surprise him to see Rory running across a desert? "Rory the Roman!" he shouted out, waving his arms above his head wildly.
The Doctor had every intention of stepping out of the TARDIS and meeting him halfway, but then he spotted a much larger group not too far behind Rory the Roman...An angry hoard of African villagers. "Run, Rory, run!" he called out this time, as if Rory really needed to be told to do that. The TARDIS would be able to withstand anything the villagers tried to do her, not that the Doctor was going to give them a chance because, as soon as Rory was safely inside, he'd be telling her to fly off to somewhere a tad bit safer.

Now he was almost sure that he was dreaming either that or he had had so many drink's inside a bar somewhere that he was out of his mind. The familiar sound of the TARDIS rang through his ears at first causing Rory to frown in disgust that his own brain would betray him like that or put his hope's up yet as the blue box appeared onto the sand he knew that his eye's weren't lying. He just hoped that his eye's weren't deceiving the male either. "Doctor?" he asked stopping momentarily before remembering why he was running in the first place thus kick started his leg's yet again. The Doctor began to yell out run making Rory roll his eye's, what did he think he was doing?
Rory wasn't sure if the time lord wanted him back after such a short while of leaving them yet this was a life or death situation so surely he wouldn't just drop him off yet again. Beside's with him he would have a better chance or finding Amy, maybe River could break away from her spoiler's and give them a clue. Whatever it took he needed to know where he wife was so that he could save her. It was funny the Doctor dropped them off to protect them now this happen's, ironic sprung to the Roman's mind. "You have a habit of finding angry race's alien or not" he stated to the male as he reached the safety of the TARDIS. Turning around he stared at the African group who were staring at the box in surprise yet that didn't stop them from firing a bow straight toward's them. Rory closed the door just as the arrow landed with a thud.
"We need to go" he yelled stumbling forward toward's the main hub throwing his body warmer off of his chest as he did so. The dessert was no place for anyone to wear a lot of clothes especially jean's and a shirt which of course the Roman was wearing. He managed to speak again as the sound's of the African's died away leaving just the sound's of the TARDIS echoing around itself with the two male's inside of it. "What are you ... where you doing here? Not that i don't want you to be. Urm thanks Doctor" Rory leaned back onto one of the metal railing's breathing in deeply to calm himself down even though his heart was still beating at what felt like the speed of a hurtling train.
It was strange to be in the TARDIS yet at the same time it felt like home he had spent so much of his life with the Doctor and it was no secret to say that they didn't always' get on but that was what happened when you lived with anyone for a long while while being killed every so often. Rory didn't blame the Doctor far from it as in all honestly he had saved his marriage so he would always' be grateful to the man not that he would tell the time lord. He didn't want him feeling more excited then he already was, sometime's he was like a little kid. "So" he muttered raising an eyebrow before rubbing the back of his neck as the silence began to kill him "How have you been?"
He didn't want to come straight out with where the hell is Amy just in case the Doctor didn't have a clue and then it would ruin the whole reunion moment. That said the question was burning through the Roman like a candle, he needed to ask or he would explode. At least the time lord was still alright as he knew just like Amy and River did that within his future he would be killed by an impossible astronaut in the past yet according to his daughter they couldn't tell him anything. It was one of the worst secret's that he had ever kept, he had even stopped Amy telling him a few times which anyone who knew her was a complicated thing to do.

The Doctor couldn't help it if trouble always found him. It wasn't his fault that the TARDIS had decided all of those years ago that she always should take him to where he was going to be needed. And that meant danger was going to abound, even if it was something on a small scale like an old companion of his being chased by some African villagers. Helping others out didn't always have to involve the destruction of whole planets. "And you have the habit of getting into trouble with me around or not."
But why were they having this conversation with the TARDIS doors still open? Thankfully, no sooner had the Doctor uttered those words, Rory saw the sense in closing those doors, even if it did take an arrow being flung in his direction for him to do so. The Doctor calmly walked over to the console, feeling much better now that Rory was in no immediate danger, and set a course ten miles or so away from where they were now. Whether or not the TARDIS actually landed there when she rematerialized didn't matter because the Doctor had ever intention of getting Rory back home as soon as possible.
"The better question is what are you doing here?" he inquired right back. "I didn't drop you off back home so you could wander around the Sahara for fun." He knew that that wasn't what Rory had been doing, but his point still stood; he hadn't dropped the Ponds off so they could run off and get into their own trouble. His timeline was already being ruined by this super-universe that was being created, and now running into Rory again when he wasn't supposed to see him until Utah. Things just never worked out the way they were supposed to.
The Doctor wanted nothing more than to ask about Amy but, in deference to Rory not bringing her up, the Doctor didn't...at least not yet. Rory seemed far more interested in making sure the Doctor was doing all right. Too bad the Doctor couldn't tell him the truth--that he knew about his impending death. That the Doctor that Rory was talking to was substantially older than the Doctor that had left them at home. He knew about his death ever since the day Amy had thought she was talking to his doppelganger when she mentioned it.
And he knew that he couldn't keep on putting off April 22, 2011. He had been about to start his farewell tour (with a visit to Craig Owens first on the list) but then the TARDIS had brought him to Langley, Virginia to discover the coming together of the universes. Maybe he should be grateful for being able to put his death off another day but the Doctor couldn't quite get himself to feel that way. The sooner he got it over with, the better off the entire universe would be.
"I've been fine. Just fine," he answered, a small smile on his face. Rule number one: the Doctor lies. "And now I'm supposed to ask you the same, right? How have you been?" The Doctor had never been good at knowing what social conventions needed to be followed. He rarely had conversations that didn't involve the word 'run,' technobabble that only he could understand, or any other form of babbling that was useful in distracting others into believing that he actually had a plan to get them out of some kind of danger.

He opened his mouth to respond yet quickly closed it when he noticed that the Doctor was telling the truth, for once. After all trouble didn't follow him the time lord followed it, most of the time. Rory shook his head instead staring toward's the console area where the male now stood probably wanting to take him straight back home and although his car was sitting there waiting for him he couldn't go back without Amy. No. He wouldn't go back without Amy. Even if the Doctor couldn't help then he would continue looking on his own, not that he knew a lot about Africa or how he turned up there but still.
Raising his eyebrow's as the Doctor answered he folded his arm's against his chest with a look that said "your clearly not fine we both know that but won't say anything about it". That was one of the thing's that surprised Rory about his time traveling friend, he had seen so many alien's hold the Doctor in their heart's for saving them yet most of the time they had saved him from being so very much alone. He couldn't understand why he had left the pair in the first place. "Why did you drop us off? Do you want to travel alone for the rest of your life? You know we would of stayed. You didn't even say goodbye" he exclaimed tilting his head slightly to the side. Admittedly Amy was the one who loved to travel and be with the Doctor yet Rory liked it too even if he didn't show it as much as his wife.
"I've been lost" Rory told him letting out the kind of laugh that people did when they were slightly embarrassed but didn't want anyone to know about it which of course made it more obvious then it would of been. He stared from the Doctor to the floor so that he could hide his face from his as the male spoke. "We both know your not ok but if you don't want to tell me then fine i understand that" He walked closer toward's him only stopping when he stood beside the time lord and with a smile he looked into the console. "You left the break's on, want me to fix them?" The Roman couldn't help but grin when he though of his last encounter helping the Doctor on the TARDIS yet that time it was Amy's fault she shouldn't of wore that skirt. "I didn't plan on ending up here either" he informed the other male taken a step forward "It was the house you put me in. As soon as me and Amy walked through the door we ended up going through some kind of portal thing and ended up here or at least i ended up here" There he had said that he didn't know Amy in not so any word's, he didn't want to think about it too much because he was extremely scared thus not saying it out loud made it seem slightly better even if it was just emotionally for a few minute's. The Roman wondered how the Doctor would take it, whether he would take the TARDIS back to check for himself or search for her using some strange alien technology he had collected or just start shouting at Rory for losing her.
He sighed to himself as he let his hand's drop by his side. "Please Doctor you have to help me find her, I know you don't want me here but this is Amy we're talking about" he asked taking a large gulp feeling strangely nervous. It was Melody all over again, they still hadn't found her as a baby to stop the female from becoming the weapon that killed the Doctor but instead they had been with her all along as their friend who they kind of brought up themselves. Rory wished that something like that wouldn't happen with Amy, like she would turn out to be somewhere where he would have to leave her because of some stupid galactic rule. Thinking about everything even began to remind him of Apalapucia where he did have to leave a version of Amy. He didn't know if he could cope doing something similar like that again.

The Doctor had said goodbye to Amy but he wasn't going to belittle that point with Rory. Nor was he going to tell the Roman that there was no need to be concerned about him traveling alone for the rest of his life because the rest of his life wasn't that much longer. He couldn't tell Rory that he was almost one hundred years older than the last time he had seen the Ponds. There was nothing Rory could do for him when it came to his impending death, except watch it with Amy and River.
"Rose Tyler...Lost to a parallel Earth. Martha Jones...Whole family almost killed because of me. Donna Noble...Had to wipe her head of all her memories of her time with me or else she would have died. Do you really need to know why I left the two of you safe at home?" Guilt trips were never fun but it certainly helped the Doctor to know that he wasn't going to be feeling much of anything pretty soon. His last incarnation hadn't wanted to meet his end but these days he was more than ready. His time and place had come to an end.
He couldn't let anything slip by Rory but he definitely wasn't going to tell him the reasons why he wasn't fine. Besides, Rory already knew why he wasn't fine, even if he wasn't aware of that fact. And the Doctor was grateful when Rory graced over calling out his lie with a rather silly question. "The brakes are good. I like having the brakes on. They're very nice and soothing." They were far from nice and soothing to most ears but any noise that the TARDIS ever made was always going to be music to the Time Lord's ears.
There had been a portal in their home. There had been a portal in the home that the Doctor had bought for them. There had been a portal that had taken Rory to Africa and Amy to who knew where. Maybe one hundred years ago the Doctor would have found just cause to shout at Rory for losing his wife. But not today. Wasting his last moments of life displaying any kind of anger wasn't the way he wanted to go out. "Well, that's a new one," he said, letting out the slight chuckle of his that could only mean he was both nervous and excited about something that had happened.
"I don't want you here? Who said I don't want you here, Rory the Roman. I'd rather have you here than out there in the desert all by yourself." It was a minor inconvenience to have to plop Amy and Rory back down where they belonged but it was also an unexpected chance to get to see them both one last time.
Amy could be anywhere and any when but the TARDIS would take him where he needed to go. She had never betrayed him...Well, expect for the whole exploding thing during the Pandorica incident but that hadn't been her fault. "I suppose it's not too much to ask of me to help you save your wife one last time. But after this you're on your own."

Rory opened his mouth yet no sound came out, he had lost so many people he had been through so much yet still that silly grin he held always held onto his face. The Doctor was keeping a front he always had been and the Roman felt ashamed of only just noticing it. "That wasn't your fault" he managed to say breathing in deeply "People want to travel with you because of all the good that you do but Doctor you can't save everyone" The same phrase had been given to him when the male first began training as a nurse where he had lost a patient during their operation however it turned out that no one would of doe anything. Still that affected the male throughout his career until those word's were said, maybe in some small way it would help. On the other hand he did know that the time lord wouldn't be so easy to help.
"I don't think the TARDIS does" he informed showing a light smile when he thought back to when she was alive. She had warned him about River being Melody because she was the child of the TARDIS and in some strange timey winey force she was the ship's daughter too. Rory frowned as the Doctor chuckled about it being a new one, trust him to get excited about something strange happening even if it was a negative event. "Wait so you haven't come across these things before? This keep's getting better" The male placed his hand on the console of the TARDIS being careful not to press or pull anything, it was strange to think of the ship to be alive yet he knew that she was and was thankful that she had saved them. Sexy like the Doctor was a hero.
Even Rory couldn't help but laugh at the Doctor's comment. "I wasn't alone i had those crazy Africans' remember? Not that i want to go back thank you" the male exclaimed before an expression of shock took over his face for a split second that he quickly tried to get rid of. The time lord made it sound like they would never see him again after he helped him find Amy but that wasn't like him, what happened to the care free Doctor that wanted to help anyone and everything? He made it sound like he was dying. That was when it suddenly hit Rory, did the time lord find out about his death? The Roman stared from the console to the alien trying to evaluate his expression yet he wasn't given anything away.
He wasn't the smartest man in the world and Rory wasn't trying to be but if the time lord knew about his death then he shouldn't go through it alone. No one should do that. He tried to think of something to say that was cryptic enough so that if he didn't know about his death he wouldn't suspect but could only think of one way to say it so decided to go with it. "You know about Lake Silencio don't you?" asked Rory in a low gentle voice. He would never forget that name nor the creature's that he had met there, the silence as they were known as the time were terrible creature's able to wipe their memories clean of their presence. They were one of the worst creature's that the male had ever faced.

The Doctor knew that he couldn't save everyone but that didn't make it any easier for his losses to deal with. Maybe he couldn't save everyone who traveled with him but it was still his partially his fault because he couldn't travel alone. The Doctor always needed a companion with him. He was a needy man, and that neediness caused innocent people so many problems. It was all going to end soon, though. He only needed to keep that fact in his head.
The TARDIS didn't like the sound of her own brakes? "Nonsense, Rory the Roman. If Sexy didn't like the sound of her own breaks, she'd turn them off herself." He may not be able to speak to her anymore but she was still around. She controlled everywhere that he went. The Doctor really didn't need to push any of the buttons on the console; it was always more of a show to make his companions think that he was somewhat in control of where they ended up. But they usually figured out pretty quickly that that wasn't true at all.
"Not any kind of portal that can take people anywhere. Teleports that go from one place to another, more common than you think. One that takes someone anywhere, very technologically advanced. But why in your home? Your home was perfectly normal when I first got it for you. I checked every square inch of the place and now this...Isn't it exciting?" Once again, that chuckle. One more mystery for him to solve before his inevitable demise came..Well, two more mysteries to solve, actually, what with the whole super-universe being created.
Oh yes, those folks that he had saved Rory from. They were probably crazy and confused Africans now. A big blue box came out of nowhere and then disappeared again. That didn't happen every day for any group of people. "And hopefully Amy has nothing worse to worry about than crazy Italians or crazy Spaniards or crazy anything-but-Africans." And the Doctor didn't even want to begin thinking about the fact that maybe she wasn't even on Earth--that maybe something very sinister was going on her; that someone separated the Ponds on purpose.
The Doctor was going to set the TARDIS' course for...well, for wherever Amy was. The TARDIS would know. But, before he could, Rory asked his question. And what was the point in trying to lie to Rory about it? Things were already being messed up right now, and he had to think that his friends knew enough about his beliefs with never messing around with certain points in time that they wouldn't try and save his life. "April 22, 2011. 5:02 PM. I'm eleven hundred and three now, Rory. My time is over."

"Yeah i guess" he muttered staring at the console like she would make a noise or some kind of movement to show that she agreed with him but no sound came, the Doctor was right again. Plus he still called the TARDIS sexy, he was worse that Rory was with the car that the time lord had left him which he had enjoyed for a few moments before being taken along with Amy. It was strange because he had been in the house before hand, they both knew that but nothing had happened so why were they taken when the Doctor left and when they were together? It was strange even for them and that was something.
The Roman tilted his head to the side exciting wasn't how he would of put it yet he couldn't help a small smile escape his lip's, the Doctor was going to help him and he was hopefully going to enjoy spending time with them again. He felt slightly stupid and he would probably be completely wrong yet he needed to ask the Doctor to make sure that he wasn't just imagining thing's. "When we were taken i felt different" he began trying to find the right words "When we found House we had to go into another universe bubble type thing. This felt the same like we were taking into another universe yet everything seem's the same. Is that possible?" Rory alway's knew that the TARDIS would change his perception in certain way's he just didn't know if this was one of them or if he had simply felt some sort of static from the portal.
He nodded at the thought of Italian's going after Amy, he felt sorry for the Italian's he knew how much his wife could shout and she wouldn't go lightly. Rory hoped the Doctor was right anything was better than an angry African tribe except perhaps the Nazi's that they had experienced before. Hitler would probably remember the Roman putting him in the cupboard after the TARDIS had crashed into his office and after Mel's had regenerated into that of River Song, his daughter. "Poor local's" he muttered to the room rubbing his shoulder from where it had connected with the arm of an African sometime he didn't expect to happen to him in his life time.
"What?" he asked astonished "But that's not, your older then when you left us. Timey Winey right?" So he did know about his death however he found out he wished that he hadn't because who wanted to know that they were going to die soon? Then again now that he knew maybe he could stop it from happening, sure Rory knew that this as the Doctor and that he was suppost to die but also knew that they had changed thing's before so it wasn't like they couldn't again. "Don't go, we saw you die and i had to burn your body don't do that to yourself. I don't understand why you would want to die? You have your own life to live yet"
If truth be told Rory was feeling quite emotional at that point, he had lost Amy, found the Doctor, learned that he knew he was going to die and felt that the time lord was going to go to that Lake and die. He was more than a friend to the Roman he was family, even his relationship with River made that clear so he couldn't give that up, he just couldn't. "Take us with you. When you find Amy bring us with you, it's not like we haven't seen ourselves before. The world feel's like it's changing so we can change this, fix point in time or not. You saved us now it's time to save you. I know you don't want to hear this and that your don't believe we can but let us try your, family." the Roman told him in a strong voice although he didn't' know how the Doctor would feel.

The Time Lord remembered their little jaunt outside of the universe very well, even though it had been about two hundred years ago for him. "It wasn't a universe bubble type thing but, if you want to keep on telling yourself that, then, yes, it was a universe bubble type thing." That had been one analogy that he wished he could take back. "And, yes, we're in a different universe right now...Well, kind of sort of in a different universe right now. The Africa we're on right now may be a different Africa or it may be the Africa you know. Someone or something is bringing all universes together, creating a sort of super-universe, while the rest of space just remains empty." There. No analogies to confuse Rory that time around.
"But, before you ask," he quickly added, "That has nothing to do with what happened to you and Amy." Unless whoever was bringing the universes together thought that separating Amy and Rory would give them ample time to finish their evil plan while the Doctor was distracted saving his friends but that theory didn't seem too likely.
The Doctor couldn't help but smile at Rory's reaction to the news about his age and even managed to let out a small chuckle as Rory tried to rationalize how it had happened. "I'm a time traveler remember? It's only a simple matter of the time dimensions of..." Oh, what was he doing trying to explain it to Rory? "Yes, timey-wimey." That was so much easier.
He let out a small sigh as he listened to Rory rant about how his death couldn't happen, how he wanted to do all that was in his power to try and save the Doctor from his death. It was funny, really, how everything in the Doctor's life revolved around what others wanted or needed of him. And now here Rory was clearly making it known that he wanted the Doctor to continue living. Of course everyone wanted to continue living for as long as they could but they hadn't been through the things the Doctor had been through. It was hard to want to continue existing when so many of the things he had done had resulted in innocent people being hurt in one way or another.
Once he was sure that Rory was done, it was his turn to speak again. "Believing you can do something isn't going to make it happen. I have tried changing fixed points of time in the past--" Most recently, his last incarnation had tried to save as many humans as he could from their base on Mars. "And, when you do that, they never work out the way you want them to. I'm going to die, Rory, and I'm okay with that...Well, as okay as I'll ever be with it. I can't keep on putting it off forever. You lot will have to learn how to move on and enjoy your safe, normal lives without me." The Doctor didn't know what was so hard to understand about any of that. He didn't want to be saved; he wanted to die. Everyone had to die eventually.

"A different Africa or an Africa i know" he repeated confusing spreading across his face for a split second "So there are different Africa's? Why did i have to end up on the one with the attacking tribe? That is just my luck" Rory sighed to himself it was typical of him to attract bad attention he alway's had done since traveling with the tome lord that he was his fault though, mostly it was the situation that they were thrown into. That was usually the problem yet at least for times that like he knew why, at that moment in time the Roman had no idea why himself and Amy had gotten separated. It wasn't like they could stop the universe from changing or joining with other's. No if Rory was whoever it was behind everything and he wanted to stop someone from stopping him then the Doctor would be his prime target.
He closed his mouth, so it didn't have anything to do with him or his wife. "That's good right?" he asked frowning slightly "I mean that we aren't involved in the different universe convergence thing?" Rory wasn't so sure it was a good thing as it took them back to square one with no reason or clue on why Amy was taken, who by and where exactly she was taken too. All he knew was that they were separated but at least he had found the only man that he trusted with his life, the Doctor wasn't someone who would you let you down. Once a friend always a friend unless of course they try to take over the world or start killing people still that was only a select few.
The Roman tried to look smug when the Doctor agreed with him although it didn't come of so great so just decided to grin slightly, it was more fitting to his own personality. "You might of tried before but you didn't have me with you then did you? No i think not" he told him outstretching a finger to try and poke the time lord on the shoulder for good measure although he wasn't taking it seriously he still wanted to make the male feel better about the whole situation. It wasn't one that he would like to be in, ever. Knowing about your own death was something that he didn't want to know, when he happened it happened besides he had been dead so many time's before he didn't really know which time he was supposed to die.
"Your ok with it?" he muttered knowing that he more than likely wasn't ok with his death although what he was saying was true, they all had to die sometimes some quicker than other's. After all the Doctor had been alive for hundred's of year's maybe he wanted to rest now and who was Rory to try and stop him. The time lord wanted to face his death not keep running from it, he was more brave that the Roman had even known. "Then at least don't do this alone. When you go to the Lake take me with you, if you don't want me to help then I won't but I can't let you go and die on your own"
He laughed gently as the Doctor spoke about living a safe normal life making him raise an eyebrow in response. "Safe, I'm living with Amy remember?" he said with a nod knowing that if she was there she would of hit him on the back of her head causing him to rub the back of it out of habit"And normal not so much after seeing all of this, everything you showed us. Thank you Doctor, really thank you"

The Doctor nodded his head. The universe was very complicated, and it was near impossible for most humans to wrap their heads around it. Even astronomers and physicists who studied the universe for a living didn't know ninety-nine percent of the things that were out there. Scientists were still debating about whether or not parallel worlds really existed. "There are a countless number of parallel universes out there, all with some version of Africa or another. We could be in any one of them right now." And that was just brilliant! "Traveling between parallel universes isn't supposed to happen but all of the walls are being torn down now."
He shrugged his shoulders. "It's good...and bad." How the Doctor always loved to make contradictions. "It's bood...gad. Yes, it's gad!" And combining contradictions into a new word was just as fun as making them in the first place. Even if it turned out he was wrong about the events not being related, his first priority was still going to have to be to find Amy.
The Doctor knew that all Rory was doing was trying to make him feel better so he told his logical mind--the part of him that wanted to say something along the lines of 'Adelaide would have committed suicide no matter who else was by my side'--to keep quiet and let the Roman think that his little cheering up talk was actually working. "With Rory the Roman by my side, what could go wrong?" The Doctor let a passably genuine smile cross his face.
Rory wasn't going to let it go apparently. What did the Doctor need to say to get him to drop the subject? "You, and Amy, and River will already be there with me. You already were there with me. Thank you, Rory." This time the smile was more genuine. The Doctor let out a small chuckle. "Not many dead men get the opportunity to thank those who were with him at the end of it all."
The Doctor laughed along with Rory. "Right. You might want to keep on her on a tight leash, especially now that she's fa--" The Doctor cut him off suddenly. He couldn't be too sure that she was already a model for Petrichor because he wasn't sure how much time had passed for Rory since he had dropped the Ponds off at their new home. "Just keep an eye on her for me," he finished off.
And then it was Rory's turn to thank the Doctor. "It was my pleasure, Rory the Roman," he said, placing a friendly hand on Rory's shoulder. "And I want you to know that I'm never really going to be dead. There's always going to be some version of me out there somewhere and some when." His death just meant that there were going to no more new adventures for him. But he had had his time; he had lived his dream, and that was all that he could have asked for in the end.

"The wall's are being torn down? But how?" he asked a frown appearing on his face "And by who? or what?" Rory knew by now not to question what the Doctor told him as usually the most likely answer wasn't it so they had to go for the most wacky or outrageous idea's which turned out to be correct. It was both annoying and frankly quite hard to get used to. The male stared toward's the door's of the TARDIS hoping that whatever was pulling down the wall's of different universes couldn't get through that door, the time lord was always saying how strong his time machine was from attack. That said River had shot it from the inside before so it wasn't as safe as the Doctor made out, like his daughter had told him. Rule one, the Doctor lies.
He took a mental step back when the other male invented yet another word and was keeping excited about, too excited about it. "You have been on your own too long" muttered the Roman raising his eyebrow slightly "Gad? That just sound's like your spitting out something you've tried to eat" Sighing to himself he shook his head knowing that the Doctor was just like a child and got giddy or excited over the tiniest of thing's but no one could help but like him and although the time lord felt so very much alone he really wasn't. Rory was sure that the millions of people that he helped would in return help him too in a heart beat all it took was for him to ask. He also knew that the male would never do that.
"With my luck everything would" he told him with a small smile. He couldn't really believe that conversation he was having at that moment in time, the time of someone's death with the Doctor thanking him for being there. Rory had been invited after all or at least Amy had and he just tagged along well the ganger version of his wife had while he real wife was pregnant and in space. Wow his life was more complicated than he noticed like knowing his daughter before she was even born. Time travel had funny way's of affecting people most of all the Pond's. "I wouldn't miss it"
The Roman shifted his weight as he twisted his body slightly to face the male. "Now that she's fa?" he repeated slowly trying to sense a hidden code or meaning behind it yet he couldn't find one "What do you mean Fa? Another word you made up? I always will do Doctor i promised her i would look after her and i will, no matter what it takes" Rory knew that his wife and the two hearted alien were close, he just hoped that the three of them could reconnect before he had to go to that lake where he would have no more adventures and no more TARDIS. He had never thought he would of thought about the time lord's death, he just seemed to be so clever at avoiding being killed.
A hand was placed on his shoulder which the male looked at for a few seconds thinking about what he was going to say yet nothing seemed to express what he wanted to say. Besides words wouldn't help the Doctor he didn't want anything to. Rory held out a hand for the male to shake in a form of respect and acceptance saying that he wouldn't stop the male but that he would miss him. "Oh what the hell" the male muttered rolling his eye's as he embraced his friend for a moment or two before breaking away "Don't expect that to happen again" Rory laughed gently to himself finally feeling calmer at what the pair of them were doing. So many questions from Rory in such a short amount of time. "One question at a time," he said, holding up an index finger to emphasis the point. "How is it being done? It's a simple matter of..." Oh, wait...Was the Doctor really going to try and scientifically explain what was going on to Rory? Nah, because Rory seemed content to hear the simple explanations. "It's a simple matter of spacey-wacey," he finished. That explanation was up their with wibbly-wobbly in being able to explain anything in layman's terms.
The second question, unfortunately, wasn't as easy to answer. "Who or what is doing it? Your guess is as good as mine. But I can tell you that if it is a who, they're either doing it because they want to have a convenient way to take over or destroy every single universe that has ever or will ever exist." Whatever was going on, there were no good intentions behind it, and that was serious cause for concern.
The Doctor didn't see anything wrong with that word. "Gad," he repeated, "Gaaaaaad....Gadddddd...Gaaaaaddddd." Okay, maybe there was something wrong with it. "Oh, all right, then. It sounds like something you'd say after spitting out your food," he agreed. One of these days he would invent a word that everyone would learn to love speaking. Until then, he was going to have to be content with trying to do it over and over and over again.
Yes, Rory the Roman who kept on dying and then never existing and then becoming plastic and then having to wait two thousand years by Amy's side. Bad luck seemed to follow the young man around but none of that would have happened to him if it weren't for the Doctor. Rory's bad luck combined with the Doctor's presence meant that awful things were going to happen. Rory wouldn't miss his death...That made it sound like it was some sporting event. Then again, the Doctor had almost turned it into one by inviting his closest friends to watch it happen.
It was a good thing the Doctor had stopped himself when he did because it appeared that not a lot of time had passed for Rory since he had been dropped off at his new home. No modeling yet for Amy. And no modeling for her ever if the Doctor wasn't able to find her and get her back to where she belonged. "Fa...Yes, fa. It's another made up word. It means...Well, I don't know what it means. It means whatever you want it to mean." He hoped that Rory would just let that one go without a fuss. He'd be finding out soon, if everything went right, what 'fa' had really meant.
Human men and their handshakes. Women hugged each other to show respect; men shook hands with each other. The Doctor was just about to oblige Rory but, before he could, the Roman embraced him. After getting over the initial millisecond of surprised, the Doctor wrapped his own arms around Rory. So, the Doctor had won this debate. Rory was going to allow him to die. The Doctor joined Rory in his laughing. "Heard and understood," he said.

He nodded when the Doctor said spacey wacey in other words it was too complicated for Rory to understand which seemed to happen a lot although he was getting better at all the alien technology and how thing's worked. His wife on the other hand was great at the stuff, she had even built her own sonic screwdriver or probe as she liked to call it in an alternate universe. Still the stuff that the Doctor wanted them all to know wasn't something that everyone would need on a day to day basis like drama, Rory didn't a lot of need for that is wasn't like he would did to do a mine to afford his weekly shop.
"Every universe that ever existed?" he repeated a shocked expression appearing on his features "Well that's bad then not Gad, how can this be good? It's like the cracks in the universe that nearly destroyed all of time and you had to erase yourself from time to stop it happening, that can't be happening again" The male then thought for a moment at his own experiences of things happening over and over again, the most common one being himself dying and coming back to life. "Actually maybe it could happen again, i lost track of how many times I've died" The male laughed to himself as he thought of the death's that surrounded his life however in reality he had hated each and every one because each time he died he lost Amy, that was something he would never willingly do.
The Roman could see defeat in the time lord's eye's as another one of his word's were rejected. Poor guy, for all his intelligence and all of his earth knowledge he couldn't come up with a single word that he could use for his travel's but then again Rory couldn't remember the last time a new word had existed apart from the slang that teenager's used. He didn't understand why the Doctor wanted to invent a new word after all he had saved the world multiple times, surely that was enough recognition for anyone. Then again hardly anyone on the earth knew what the Doctor had done except for parallel universes and the people that actually traveled with the man.
So the time lord invented yet another word, this time fa. What the hell was that supposed to mean? Rory had no idea what it meant yet the Doctor said it could mean anything he wanted, so there wasn't a lot of point using the word if there was always' something else that he could say. Besides it almost sounded like it was ordering some kind of spice not that he wanted to ruin another word that the male had created so decided to just keep that factor to himself. "Fa's better than Gad" he explained smiling slightly as the word sounded through his vocal chord's. It was a strange pair of word's that the male had created for himself but it was the Doctor, crazy thing's happened around him.
Once the pair had finished their embrace, the first that he had ever shared with the Doctor the male joined in with his laughter making it feel more like a friendship that it ever had done before. Rory was thankful that he had the help of the time lord as he knew he couldn't find Amy on his own or doubted that he could. "Are you going to stop the universe's being joined together? Can you?"
